Cédrine Kerbaol Fourth and Best Young Rider on Stage One in the CIC-International Feminin Tour des Pyrénées

Cédrine put in a brave attack with 500m to go before taking fourth in the reduced bunch sprint.

Kerbaol summed up a hectic first stage that included a brief neutralisation so that the race doctor could rejoin the convoy. "We weren't really sure why they neutralised the race at first, so we thought they were stopping us altogether and the race was finished. Mentally, it wasn't hard to get back into race mode but it was a different race after that. Hanna really helped me today. I spent most of the race on her wheel, especially on the climbs. There was one climb in particular that was around 5km long where some of the climbers attacked so I had to try to follow and after that, it was full gas.

There were only around 20 girls left in the group but the pace was really high and there were lots of attacks which made it really hard. I was in front going into the last corner so I tried to do a long sprint and attacked with 500 metres to go. I think fourth and Best Young Rider is a good result for today's stage. It would have been difficult to win a sprint against some of the other riders in the group so I don't have any regrets. Let's see about tomorrow. It will make a big difference in the General Classification so we need to prepare for that."
