A second place for Maria Giulia Confalonieri at the second stage of Lotto Thüringen Ladies Tour

After stage of 99,6km with an elevation of 1163 high meters, aggressive attacks and breakaways Maria Giulia managed in a hectic final another second place.

Steffen Radochla: We watched the final before, but it was hectic in the end, and we could not execute our plan to 100%. Nevertheless, we are very happy that Maria Giulia came in second."
Maria Giulia: „We did a good job overall. The plan was to be first and second in the last corner, but I could only manage the 5th position and the finish was too close after. I have the speed and good legs, just the timing must be right. Lisa and Lin did a good job in the lead out despite the hectic last meters. We keep fighting for a stage win.”
Overall, Maria Giulia sits now on third position with 8 seconds behind the leader Alexandra Manly from Team Bike Exchange, Marta is 7th with 7 seconds to Confalonieri and 15 seconds to Manly.
Tomorrow the town "Dörtendorf" will welcome the peloton and they must ride 4 times up the legendary “Hankaberg” with a hilltop finish. The third stage has 129,2km, 1450 hm, 2x intermediate sprint and 4x Queen of the mountain on the agenda for the riders. Start is at 11:15 and the finish is expected around 14:45.
