CERATIZIT - WNT Pro Cycling withdraw from the Tour de Suisse Women due to positive COVID-19 test

CERATIZIT - WNT Pro Cycling will not take to the start of stage 3 of the Tour de Suisse Women.

CERATIZIT - WNT Pro Cycling can confirm that we will not take to the start of stage 3 of the Tour de Suisse Women due to a positive COVID-19 test.

The team has been doing voluntary rapid tests every two days when at races to ensure we keep our team safe and to try to avoid the spread of the virus. On Monday 20th June rapid tests were carried out for all riders and staff members in the morning, with one test coming back positive for Sandra Alonso. The team conducted 3 more rapid tests with Sandra, with another one coming back positive. Therefore the team decided that for the safety of our staff and our riders health and to avoid the spread we would not start stage 3 of the Tour de Suisse despite everyone else within the team being negative.

Whilst Sandra feels well and has no symptoms of the virus, sports director, Steffen Radochla in agreement with race director Olivier Senn mutually agreed that to respect the the safety of the race bubble, our colleagues in the peloton, and the organisation of the race we would withdraw the whole team.

Sandra has taken a PCR test to have 100% confirmation of the positive test and we await the results. We thank Olivier and his team for what had been a terrific race, we hope to be back next year and wish them success for the final two stages.
