The record-breaking time trialist, Hayley Simmonds has agreed a deal with Team WNT for 2017, adding yet more strength to the team’s impressive line-up. The roster which has carefully been cherry-picked to create an all-round, diverse squad, has now added the out and out best British Time-Trialist in the country. With 3 British records to her name, Simmonds holds the 10-mile TT record (18mins36secs), 25-mile TT record (49mins28secs) and the 50-mile TT record (1hr 42.20) as well as the British National Time Trial title, all achieved in 2016.

‘I'm really excited about joining Team WNT for 2017.  It's great to be riding for a British team who are embarking on their first year at UCI level; everyone involved, from the riders to the management, are passionate and enthusiastic so I'm looking forward to seeing what we can achieve as a team!’ says Hayley.

‘Personally I will be aiming to do well in UCI time trials as well as looking to target some of the stage races.  A key goal will obviously be to retain my National Time Trial title but I will also be looking to demonstrate that I can get results on an international level in this discipline’.

‘I've been privileged in 2016 to work closely with Xavier Disley and my personal sponsor AeroCoach, as a result my time trialling has improved dramatically. I look forward to continuing to work with Xavier and AeroCoach next year and see what further improvements I can make with the help from Team WNT and its partners.’ Simmonds adds.

Managing Director WNT UK, Tony Pennington says ‘After guest riding for our team at Thüringen Rundfahrt der Frauen back in July, it comes as no secret that we’ve kept a close eye on Hayley’s performances throughout the past year. I’m delighted that Hayley will be a member of Team WNT as we apply for a UCI for the 2017 season’.

Hayley will focus full time on her cycling career in 2017 with Team WNT after completing her PhD in Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Cambridge earlier this year as well as already having graduated with an MSci in Natural Sciences, and a MPhil both in Chemistry.
