Our spectator guide to the Matrix Fitness GP Tour Series


The first round of the 2017 Matrix Fitness GP Tour Series gets underway tomorrow, the Tuesday 9th May, the first of the 8 rounds for the women.

The racing gets underway at 5.30pm with it set to finish at 6.15pm. With our National Criterium Champion, Eileen Roe lining up for the first time this year in her British stripes she’ll be joined by 4 other riders, Olympic and World Champion Katie Archibald, Irish road race champion Lydia Boylan, track world cup winner Emily Kay and three-time overall team series winner Gabriella Shaw.

If you’re planning to come and watch the opening round via car, the address is Church Green West, Redditch, B97 4DX however there is a train station, a short walk away from the start/finish line.

See the image on the right for a comprehensive circuit map of the 1.4-kilometre closed road course that our team will tackle within the Worcestershire town of Redditch.

To see the TV highlights of Redditch they’ll be on ITV4 at 7pm Wednesday 10th May as well as on Eurosport 1 at 4.45pm on 10th May.


Round 2 in Stoke-on-Trent also known as ‘The Potteries’ on Thursday 11th May, was the location of the inaugural women’s Matrix Fitness GP Tour Series, back in 2010.

The start/finish line is outside the Potteries Shopping centre (Town Road, Stoke-on-Trent, ST1 1PZ), proceeding to start at 6pm and set to finish at 6.45pm. For those who are unable to come and watch for the evening, the TV highlights will be shown on Friday 12th May on Eurosport at 4.45pm and at 7pm on ITV4. A new location for 2017 is Cheshire town, Northwich, the home of the 3rd round in the Matrix Fitness GP Tour Series. Although racing starts at 5.30pm and finishes around 6.15pm, there is plenty of action before hand with family activities going on throughout the day and free car parking in several locations. See below for more information.

If you’re planning on making a trip to Northwich to support Team WNT Pro Cycling via car, the address for the start/finish line is Waitrose, 22 London Road,Northwich, CW9 5EU, with a full course map the 3rd image on the right hand side.

TV highlights will once again be shown on Eurosport on the 13th May at 4.45pm and on ITV4 at 7pm on Monday 15th May.

Free Parking will be available at the following locations:

• Barons Quay (900+ spaces)

• Northwich Memorial Court (219 spaces - access via Percy Street only on event day)

• Cumberland Street (120 spaces)

• The Depot (250 spaces)

• Verdin Park (inside - 700 spaces on event day)

• Verdin Park (existing Car Park on Castle Hill - 26 spaces)

• Northwich Glass Hardstanding (50 spaces)

• Watermans (52 spaces - open for parking, however cars will not be able to exit until after 9:30pm)

• Lidl, Aldi, Sainsbury's and Matalan will operate as normal on event day

Brunner Court - Craft / Face Painting - 4pm-8pm

High Street - Scales 'n' Tails (Terrapins, Bearded Dragons, African Land Snails, Reptiles and more) outside of Barclays - 4pm-8pm

Throughout town - Look out for Mrs Salt & Brio Bear who will be parading around the town, Minions and the Pirates of the Caribbean will be covering from The ODEON / Wildwood Restaurant to M&S - 4pm-8pm, T-Rex will be rampaging on Witton Street, between Clarks and VIVA Café - 4pm-8pm

Leicester Street - The two Donkeys (Ant & Dec) will be patrolling along Leicester Street, giving children rides - 4pm-8pm

Victoria Car Park - Northwich BID Traders Market - 2pm-9pm, Artists Market - 2pm-9pm, Signal Radio - 2pm-9pm, Ferris Wheel - 2pm-9pm, Funfair Rides - 2pm-9pm, Live Music - 2pm-9pm
