World and Olympic Champion Katie Archibald will lead our British squad, Team WNT Pro Cycling as we make our debut in the OVO Energy Women’s Tour next month, which gets underway in Daventry, Northamptonshire on Wednesday 7th June.
The six-rider line-up for the team, also includes current British Circuit Race Champion Eileen Roe, and Irish Road Race Champion Lydia Boylan. Our Luxembourgish climbing phenomenon, Elise Maes will make her British racing debut, and after a strong performance in Emakumeen XXX Bira, the 5-day race looks to suit her and fellow climbing team mate Natalie Grinczer with their general classification and hilly stage ambitions. Hayley Jones, will make her return to racing now she’s fully recovered after breaking her collarbone in April to race in the OVO Energy Women's Tour for the second time in her career.
‘I'm very excited about returning to the OVO Energy Women's Tour but now riding for a UCI team in Team WNT Pro Cycling. We've got some big challenges facing us with a highly competitive field and treacherous looking course profiles, but I'm looking forward to those challenges’. Says Olympic Champion, Katie Archibald.
Archibald and Jones have ridden the prestigious OVO Energy Women’s Tour once before, in 2015 and 2014 respectively, while all 4 of their teammates will be making their debuts in the race, which is a part of the UCI Women’s WorldTour.
WNT UK Managing Director, Tony Pennington says ‘’We are delighted to be participating in the OVO Energy Women's Tour. Our team will be riding bikes kitted out with top quality components from our strategic partners that are made with our tools and we aim to put on a show for our customers, business partners and the general public alike.’’
