Koster sprints to 8th place in Valencia

Claudia Koster powered to 8th place in a hectic bunch sprint in our season opener, Vuelta CV Feminas in Valencia, Spain, with Lara Vieceli finishing in 15th.

It was our first race of the 2019 season and the first time the UCI 1.2 race had been held, so the riders were unsure of what was to come.

A race which saw many attacks in the first part of the race, soon settled down once they realised the breakaways could not stay away during their efforts.

“The race was controlled by the peloton, who kept the speed high to stop any attacks. The girls did a really good job during the race of keeping me up towards the front, and in especially in the finale. When you consider that it is just the first race of the season, and first race working together, I am super happy with 8th place. I had really good legs and I am looking forward to more races like this with the team.” Said Koster.

Sarah Rijkes was proud as ever to pull on her Austrian Champions jersey saying; “Every year the first day of racing is special. This year was no exception. It was my first race for WNT-ROTOR, and there is nothing better than to finally show off my new national champions kit from CUORE. After 3.5 months without races I was so happy to be able to show, what is for me, the most beautiful jersey in the peloton.”

The team will now go back to the team house in Calpe, and continue the hard work and preparation ahead of our next race in 11 days, Setmana Ciclista Valenciana, a 4 day stage race (21st Feb-24th Feb).
