Battery regulation

Concerning the return of batteries according to Section 12 of the German Battery Regulation (Batterieverordnung):

In connection with the distribution of disposable or rechargeable batteries or the supply of devices containing disposable or rechargeable batteries, under the Battery Regulation CERATIZIT Deutschland GmbH is obliged to draw users’ attention to the following:

Batteries may not be disposed of with household refuse. As the end-consumer, the user is legally obliged to return used batteries. The user may return batteries free of charge after use at the point of sale or in its immediate vicinity (e.g. at local authority collection points or in shops).

The user may also return batteries by post. The user may contact the installer concerning returns.

Disposable or rechargeable batteries that contain harmful substances are marked with a crossed-out wheelie bin symbol.

Near the wheelie bin symbol is the chemical name of the pollutant. 
Explanation: Cd stands for cadmium, Pb for lead and Hg for mercury.
