Kirsten Wild wins her 7th world title

Kirsten Wild becomes a world champion for the 7th time in her illustrious career.

Last night the Dutchwoman won the ‘Scratch race’ world title for the 3rd time, having taken silver last year.

The 40lap (10km) race was high paced throughout and with no attacks, it played into the favour of Kirsten’s strengths, her fast and furious sprint. Wild took the sprint up with 3 laps (750m) to go and held off any challengers.

In the women’s team’s pursuit, Lisa Brennauer and Franziska Brausse who are a part of the German quartet set the 7th fastest time. This gives them an opportunity to ride in round 1 of the Team Pursuit to try and make the bronze medal finals later today.

Eurosport 2 and Eurosport Player will report live from 18:30- 22:00 from the Track Cycling World Championships in Berlin.
